A free online rhyme game for words and rhythm
Rhymebreak gives you a word and a beat, then asks you to come up with a rhyme before the next word arrives. Play eight short rounds in your browser, on a phone or computer. Start with hints and a slow tempo, or turn the hints off when you want to think on your feet.
The two modes practice different things: Type a rhyme checks your answer against a starter word list. Say & tap lets you speak freely while the game measures when you tap. You can play for free without creating an account or downloading an app.
How to play the rhyme game
- Pick a mode and tempo. Chill runs at 70 BPM, Flow at 90, and Fire at 110. Slower beats give you more time to think.
- Wait for the four-beat count-in. A prompt appears, such as “light.” Find another word with the same ending sound: “night,” “bright,” or “flight.”
- Land your answer. In Type mode, submit within eight beats. In Say & tap, say your rhyme and tap on beat four. Finish all eight prompts to see your results.
Read the full rhyme game rules and scoring guide for timing windows, examples, and help with answers that do not count.
Try the daily rhyme challenge
The daily rhyme game gives everyone the same eight prompts at 90 BPM in Type mode. It changes at midnight UTC. Finish the mix, share the challenge link, and compare with a friend. Hints are optional, so agree on whether to use them if you are comparing scores.
Questions about playing Rhymebreak
What counts as a rhyme?
A rhyme matches the ending sound, not just the spelling. “Blue” and “shoe” rhyme; “love” and “move” usually do not. Type mode accepts common words in our curated rhyme families. It does not cover every word or accent yet.
Does the game listen to my voice?
No. Say & tap measures your button press or spacebar timing. It does not request microphone access, transcribe speech, or verify your spoken word. You decide whether your spoken answer rhymed.
Is the rhyme game free on mobile?
Yes. Both modes and the daily challenge are free. Use your phone’s keyboard for Type mode or the large tap button for Say & tap. Sound starts when you begin a round, and you can mute it while following the visual beat.
Why was my answer rejected?
The prompt itself does not count, and some valid rhymes may be missing from the starter list. Try another answer before the word changes. If a rhyme should have counted, use Feedback to send the prompt and your word. Our answer troubleshooting guide explains the current limits.
Is this the Creative Rhythm app?
No. Rhymebreak is an independent browser game and is not affiliated with Creative Rhythm or its “The Rhyme Game” app.
